Following the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in the country, the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Khalliru Alhassan has said that the federal government has banned movement of corpses from one state of the federation to another until there a noticeable reduction in the spread of the disease.
Alhassan made this known while speaking during the opening of the 3rd quarter meeting of the Northern Traditional Leaders Committee on Primary Health Care Delivery at Africa House in Kano, yesterday.
According to the Minister, all dead bodies would be buried wherever they die so that the chances of transporting the disease either from within or outside would be curtailed. [eap_ad_1] “We institute a control measure, henceforth dead bodies will not be allowed to be transported from one part of the country to another” he said.
The Minister added that the federal government had suspended bringing corpses from outside the country, especially the affected African countries, saying in case of any Nigerian who may die in the infected countries, such person should be buried there, regardless of his or her position.
Dr. Khalliru Alhassan noted that Kano state was at risk of contracting Ebola virus considering that they receive businessmen and women from many West African countries daily and travel to other countries as well.
