Washington- Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf will meet U.S. President Barack Obama next week at the White House for talks on cooperation in the fight against Ebola epidemic, the White House said on Friday.
The spokesman, Josh Earnes, said in Washington that “the Feb. 27 visit comes at a time of critical cooperation between the U.S. and Liberia, after Obama announced last week that the U.S. will begin a new phase in its fight against Ebola.’’
The U.S. is withdrawing by April 30 most of the troops it sent to Liberia in 2015 to respond to the epidemic, Earnes said.

According to him, the U.S. response is shifting to a civilian effort with the goal of eliminating all cases of the often deadly haemorrhagic disease.
He, however, added that economic development and other issues were also on the agenda. (dpa/NAN)
