The authorities of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria, yesterday said the result of the suspected Ebola patient’s test confirmed he had dengue fever, not Enola.
The chairman, Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital, Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed, disclosed this to our correspondent in Zaria yesterday.
“The diagnosis is dengue fever, not Ebola, and it is a case we used to have from time to time and is curable.” [eap_ad_2] Muhammed advised people not to panic and report any suspected case to the appropriate medical facility for quick intervention as a measure to curtail the spread of the deadly disease.
“We have a task force who are going round to ensure that anybody with the disease symptom will be attended to with a view to avoiding its spread.”
On why the result was not ready immediately, Mohammed said ABUTH had no facilities to test such disease, hence the need to take the blood sample to Lagos for diagnosis.
A student of the Faculty of Law in ABU, Ahmadu, had been admitted in the hospital.
The student was suspected to have had a symptom similar to that of Ebola, which caused panic not only in the hospital but in Zaria and its environs.[eap_ad_3]
