ENUGU – The Ebonyi United FC of Abakaliki on Tuesday defeated Anantigha Stars FC of Calabar 2-1 in the Nigeria Nationwide League division three play-off in Enugu.
The team from Calabar opened scoring in the ninth minute and took the advantage to the break.
Chiebonan Nwaogbaga restored parity for Ebonyi Utd in the 50th minute before Daberechi Nwanyanwu made it 2-1 in the 64th minute.
The Enugu centre comprised six teams — Ebonyi Utd, Owerri Utd, MFM FC of FCT, Anantigha Stars, Ranch Pillars of Calabar, and Cocoa Giants of Calabar.
Following the absence of the other teams, Ebonyi Utd qualified to play in next year’s NNL division two league. (NAN)
