Abakaliki – Mrs Rachael, Wife of Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi, has welcomed the first baby of the year at the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (AE-FETH), delivered around 12:15a.m.
Rachael, while welcoming the baby commended the hospital management for paying prompt attention to the patient without wasting time on payment.
She made the commendation on Wednesday in Abakaliki during her visit to the first baby who was delivered through cesarean operation.
“Thank God for safe delivery and I commend the hospital management for attending to the mother promptly.
“I hope the child will be brought up properly for the betterment of the society, community and the family,” she said.
The new Chairman Medical Advisory Council (CMAC) of the hospital Dr Richard Ewa said the cesarean operation was successful.
Ewa said that the baby was born at 12:15a.m., weighing 3.2Kg and was delivered of a 19-years-old single mother, Miss Chinemeremu Eze from Ezza-North Local Government Areas (LGA) of the state through surgical operation.
He also applauded Umahi and wife for making impact in the lives of indigent patients in the state.
“The hospital has been surviving due to supports from the State Government with assistance rendered to indigent patients,” Ewa said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Rachael presented various baby and food items to the baby and other patients at the hospital.
