Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Honourable Chijoke Jonathan Edeoga has emerged the Enugu State Labour Party Governorship candidate for the 2023 General election.
His candidature was affirmed on Thursday in Enugu at a rescheduled primary organised by the party following the withdrawal from the race by the former candidate Mr Casmir Agbo.
Honourable Chijoke Edeoga, a former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Information was a frontline aspirant during the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Governorship primary election conducted in May, 2022.
He was unduly schemed out following heavy financial inducements that greatly influenced the election which produced Mr Peter Mba as the PDP Governorship candidate.
The candidature of Honourable Edeoga who was also a National Assembly Liaison officer under the regime of former President Goodluck Jonathan according to sources has unsettled the ruling party, PDP in Enugu State.
The PDP leadership in the State was said to have held a crucial meeting in the State’s Government House at the instance of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwanyi, immediately Honourable Edeoga was announced the Labour Party’s flag bearer.

The ruling party was alleged to have mapped out strategy of sponsoring pseudo support groups which will come up with propanda to give impression that the people are still with PDP.
All the seventeen local governments’ chairmen in the state were equally mandated to roll out empowerment incentives for their people to discourage them from switching allegiance to Labour Party.
Meanwhile the profile of the Labour Party is growing by the day as many bigwigs in the ruling party are dumping PDP daily a development that has placed Labour Party as the favourite in the entire Enugu.
