Edo: Civil servants, others resume work after Sallah break

Benin –  Civil servants resumed work at both the state and federal secretariats in Benin City, Edo , on Tuesday after the two-day public holidays declared by the Federal Government to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who visited the state secretariat along Sapele Road, reports that as early as 8:00 a.m., many of the state’s civil servants had arrived their offices.

Also, at the Federal Secretariat along Benin-Auchi Road, federal civil workers were seen in their various offices at 9:00 a.m.

NAN also observed that the car parks at both secretariats were filled with many cars belonging to the workers.

Mr Alexander Ayunbokhai, a worker at the State Secretariat, said he was delighted to resume after the Eid-el-Kabir holiday.

Ayunbokhai said that the holiday gave him the opportunity to spend quality time with friends and family members.

He said that he was ready to work with the best of his ability after the break.

Also, a civil servant at the Federal Secretariat, Mr Emmanuel Ahanmisi, expressed satisfaction with the level of workers’ resumption after the public holidays.

Ahanmisi said that all the federal civil servants got their salaries before the holiday, adding that no federal workers had any reason whatever not to resume work.

He also lauded the Federal Government for the prompt payment of salaries of civil servants before the break.

NAN also observed that others doing service –oriented activities such as food vendors, top-up or airtime and snacks’ sellers within the secretariats visited had displayed their goods for the day’s business. (NAN)
