Edo records 30 auto crashes in March

Benin –  The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Thursday said 30 road traffic accidents were recorded in Edo in March.

The Edo Sector Commander, Mr Samuel Odukoya, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin that the figure was higher than the 10 cases recorded in the state in February.

He attributed the increase in crashes to speed limit violation and loss of control of vehicles, especially during the Easter period.

Odukoya also gave the figures of deaths and injuries arising from accidents during the month.

He said: “Seven deaths were recorded in March compared to the six lives lost in auto crashes in February.

“ Twenty-six persons were injured in February auto crashes while the figure rose to 69 in March.”

Odukoya said that 1, 325 offenders were booked for 1, 561 offences in the month of March. (NAN)
