BENIN – The Edo State godfather bid of former National Chairman of the federal-ruing ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, and the gubernatorial ambition of his political godson, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, have met a brickwall.
With only the results for Ovia Local Government Area yet to be announced, Ize-Iyamu is trailing Godswill Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with about 90,000 votes.
In what appears to be the final blow, Obaseki beat Ize-Iyamu with 13,445 votes to 10,458 in Orhionmwon, Ize-Iyamu’s home LGA, whose collation officer previously went missing but later reappeared to announce the results.
News Express Correspondent Nelson Dafe who is covering the election reports that the collation is on break, adding: “But all the maths show a complete victory for Obaseki.”
The election held yesterday was generally peaceful and witnessed high turnout of voters.
The Independent National electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to declare a winner after the announcement of Ovia results. (News Express)
