Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested popular Lagos socialite Emeka Okonkwo Daniel, widely known as E-Money, over allegations of currency abuse.
Sources confirmed that the arrest took place on Monday night at E-Money’s residence in the Omole area of Lagos.
According to EFCC insiders, E-Money was taken into custody for allegedly spraying U.S. dollars at a public event—an action said to contravene Nigeria’s Foreign Exchange Act.
One source revealed, “He was arrested for spraying U.S. dollars and defacing foreign currencies, which violates the law. The arrest happened at his Omole residence, and investigations are underway. He will face charges once the probe is complete.”
Another source added that the businessman has been flown to Abuja for further questioning by EFCC officials. “He is currently on his way to Abuja to meet with investigators,” the source confirmed, requesting anonymity.
As of press time, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale declined to comment on the arrest.
