The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared four individuals wanted in connection with a massive cryptocurrency investment scam linked to the now-collapsed Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).
In a public notice shared across its social media platforms on Friday, April 25, the EFCC identified the wanted suspects as Adefowora Olanipekun, Adefowora Oluwanisola, Emmanuel Uko, and Seyi Oloyede. The Commission stated that the individuals are being sought for their roles in an alleged multi-billion naira fraud.
“The public is hereby notified that the persons whose photographs appear above are wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for fraud,” the EFCC stated.
The move follows a recent ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja, where the EFCC sought and obtained an ex parte order to arrest six individuals tied to the CBEX investment scheme. Justice Emeka Nwite granted the EFCC’s request after its legal team presented the case.
The Commission revealed that the accused persons – including Olanipekun, Oluwanisola, Uko, Oloyede, Avwerosuo Otorudo, and Chukwuebuka Ehirim – allegedly lured Nigerians into investing in CBEX by promising them unrealistic returns of up to 100 percent on their investments.
The crash of CBEX left many Nigerians in financial distress, with total reported losses estimated to exceed ₦1 trillion. The EFCC continues its investigation as efforts to track down the suspects intensify.
