The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained 10 officers from its Lagos Zonal Command over allegations of theft involving missing operational items.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrests, describing them as part of Chairman Ola Olukoyede’s ongoing reforms to eliminate corruption within the commission.
According to Oyewale, the officers were apprehended last week following directives from the EFCC chairman.
“The officers are under investigation for their inability to account for certain operational items. Progress has been made in the investigation, and any officers found culpable will face internal disciplinary actions,” he stated.
Sundiata Post reports that this development follows the EFCC’s announcement on Monday of the dismissal of 27 officers implicated in fraudulent activities and misconduct in 2024.
Oyewale explained that the dismissals were based on recommendations by the commission’s staff disciplinary committee and were approved by the chairman.
Chairman Olukoyede reiterated the EFCC’s zero-tolerance policy for corruption, warning that no staff member, regardless of rank, would be exempt from disciplinary measures
