ABUJA (Sundiata Post) Bill Clinton nearly lost the moral authority to continue to preside over American over the Monica Lewinsky affair. But in pursuing the president, Kenneth Starr succeeded in whipping up sympathy for the beleaguered president.
Under Buhari, the EFCC and other state agencies have become SHAMELESSLY PREDICTABLE. Immediately APC ‘won’ Ekiti, the agency did a Twitter post that was not only condescending but showed how shallow minded those running the agency. The agency, practically celebrating APC’s victory, mocked Ayo Fayose and virtually claimed he was a candidate for the gaol.
The Commission later pulled down the tweet but the damage was already done.
Fayose wrote a letter recently that he was ready for EFCC after October 16. The Commission, in sheer pettiness, wrote to the Customs (not even Immigration) putting Fayose under watch list and claiming he might bolt.
For the records, if Fayose has case to answer, let him have his day in the courts. And may be he surely has case to answer.
But hey, the more the EFCC makes its issue with Fayose looks more like a PERSONAL battle rather than a PROCEDURAL and ADMINISTRATIVE matter, the more Fayose gains public sympathy. I can bet that. And when you lose public buy-in, you lose a case even before going to court.
Before this same EFCC, Fayemi has a petition over multi-billion naira dealings between 2010 and 2014. This was apart from the N820m SUBEB funds which his Commissioner for Finance said was “borrowed” for urgent use before the 2014 elections. Fayemi seamlessly contested for election and won while EFCC was facing East.
I have been working as a reporter since the Abacha days. But since democracy returned, at no time were state institutions being this UNASHAMEDLY MANIPULATED! Not even under Obasanjo.
Quite unfortunate!
