Cairo – The Egyptian presidency mourned ex-president Hosny Mubarak in a statement on Tuesday, describing him as a leader and a hero of the 1973 war against Israel.
The presidency said in the statement that it “mourns with great sorrow former president Mohammed Hosny Mubarak, for what he presented to his country as one of the leaders and heroes of the October war, as he took command of the Air Force during the war that restored dignity and pride to the Arab nation.”
It extended its sincere condolences to his family.
Mubarak died on Tuesday at the aged 91.
