LAGOS – A Professional Squash Association (PSA) player from Egypt, Omar Abdelmeguid, said on Friday that the performance of Nigerian players at the ongoing Lagos International Squash Classics was better than he expected.
Abdelmeguid, ranked 25 in the world, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, that with more exposure the players could be world-class.
“They are better than I thought; so that’s a good thing. They need to get out of Nigeria to actually get better; I think that’s all they need.
“They have the potential; physically they are strong, but they just need some guts; that’s all they need.
“But they are making a huge effort to make it succeed; I wouldn’t change anything; the people are nice and very friendly; everything is going smoothly.“
NAN reports that Tunde Ajagbe, who finished as the first runner up in the first edition was knocked out 1-3 by Farahan Zamar.
The competition, which served off on Nov. 3 is expected to end on Nov.8. (NAN)
