LAGOS – The Lagos Police Command said on Thursday it would adopt an “intensive motorised patrol“ and “undercover spies“ to ensure the security of lives and property during the Eid-El-Fitr celebration.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Ngozi Braide, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
Braide said that policemen would be deployed to worship places and event centres.

“During any festive period, we always beef up security in Lagos State, Ramadan is no exception. There will be very intensive motorised patrol.
“All the churches, mosques and event places will equally be taken care of. Our men will be everywhere.
“We do not envisage problem. During the Christmas period there was no problem, in the Easter period there was no problem because of the kind of the security we put in place.
“I may not tell you everything we have done but I know we have done a lot to make sure this period is a success.
The PPRO also stated that security had been strengthened at banks, markets, and recreational centres.
“We have a lot of undercover operatives in the market places, in banks, in event centres because people will take their families out during this period.“
Braide, however, urged Lagos residents to assist the police by giving vital information that could help foil any type of unrest during the festive period.
She said the citizen should call the emergency number, 07055462708, in the case of any suspicious movement. (NAN)
