MINNA – The Etsu Nupe in Niger, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, on Wednesday urged Muslims and Christians in the country to pray God to provide truthful leaders in the 2015 general elections for peaceful coexistence of the country.
Abubakar, who made the remark while interacting with newsmen in Bida, Niger, enjoined the Muslims to use the Eid-el-Kabir period to pray to almighty Allah to bring peace to the country. [eap_ad_1] “Nigeria needs prayers because it is the only weapon that will put the country on the right part.
“Prayers by both Muslims and Christians have become imperative as the 2015 general election is overheating the polity.
“With sustained prayers, Nigeria will surely remain a single indivisible entity,’’ he said.
He advised politicians in the country to shun politics of bitterness, adding that “politicians should apply decorum while playing politics.
“You should play politics to ensure the peace and security of Nigeria and not for your selfish interest.’’
Abubakar, who is also Chairman, Niger Council of Traditional Rulers, enjoined politicians to give priority to projects that would improve the living standard of the people, instead of enriching themselves at the expense of the people. (NAN)
