Lagos – The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, on Monday urged Nigerians to uphold the significance of Eid-el-Kabir, which is total trust and obedience to God.
Adebule, who made the call in a Salah message to Muslims on the celebration, said such attitude would help to accelerate the pace of economic recovery.
She said that total trust in Allah was necessary with the present economic challenges facing Nigeria.
The deputy governor urged Nigerians to celebrate the salah peacefully and reach out to the less privileged within their environment.
“We can only enjoy Allah’s favour when we totally trust and obey His will.
“He is our Creator and He knows what is best for us as individuals and as a nation,” she said.
Adebule advised Lagos residents to be security conscious at all times, and report any strange movement in their neighbourhood to the security operatives.
She also urged Lagos residents to continue to support and pray for the state government as it strives to bring dividends of democracy to their doorsteps.
According to her, intelligence gathering and information sharing are crucial to 21st century crime control.
The deputy governor called on youths in the country to join hands with government in rebuilding a new nation by engaging themselves in productive activities.
“Shun activities such as violence, kidnapping, pipeline vandalism, bombing and other vices capable of undermining the ongoing reform agenda of the Federal Government,” she said.
NAN reports that the Federal Government had declared Sept. 12 and Sept. 13 as public holidays to mark the Muslims festival of Eid el-Kabir.
