ADO-EKITI – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ekiti on Monday warned secondary school students against taking harmful drugs.
The agency said such drugs could affect the students’ brains and respiratory organs.
The Public Relations Officer of the agency, Mr Peter Njoku, gave the warning during a seminar organised for secondary school students in Ado-Ekiti.
Njoku said it had been discovered that many boys and girls were taking tramadol tablets as well as Indian hemp to perpetrate crimes.
According to him, secondary school students have been caught buying Indian hemp and some other harmful drugs which are not good for their health.
He said that a drug demand reduction unit had been set up to curb the trend and counsel youths on the dangers of taking hard drugs. (NAN)
