ABUJA – The Youth Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday said it would consider taking legal action if the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, was removed.
The APC National Youth Leader, Jalo Dasuki, made the statement in Abuja at a news conference on the sidelines of a meeting of all zonal, state and national youth leaders of the party.
But the Federal Government had since denied any plan to remove Jega as President Goodluck Jonathan asked Nigerians to disregard the unfounded rumour.
According to Dasuki, the party has remained calm after the announcement of the election postponement because of its commitment to peace.
“We accepted the postponement in good fate and as law abiding citizens of Nigeria.
“He (Jega) should be allowed to conduct the elections and go. We are here to brainstorm, synergise and take necessary steps to ensure victory on March 28,’’ Dasuki said.

He, however, urged APC members to shun violence “in whatever form’’, to ensure victory for the party’s candidates.
The Deputy National Youth Leader, Mr Sobande Sesan, said the party supported the use of card readers during the polls.
“INEC has done so much and put measures in place to make the elections free and fair.
“We as youth must stand for once and vote for leaders of our choice,’’ Sesan said.
In a goodwill message, the North-Central Leader, Mr Terver Aginde, urged the youth to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) before the deadline.
Other speakers at the meeting were the South-West Youth Leader, Mr Egbedeyi Olufemi, North-East Youth Leader, Mr Michael Tanko, and the South-South Youth Leader, Mr Tunde Eseigbe. (NAN)
