YENAGOA – Ahead of the February general elections, the Bayelsa Police Command on Wednesday pledged to ensure violence-free political campaigns.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Asinim Butswat, made the pledge in a statement made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yenagoa.

The statement said that the command had beefed up security in the state with increased vehicular and foot patrols to ensure a hitch-free political campaigns.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
It further stated that the police would also carry out intensive surveillance around the venues of rallies.
The statement called on members of the public and party supporters to cooperate with security operatives.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
The command, according to the statement, also urged the public to give useful information regarding persons who intend to foment trouble at the venues of campaigns.
“The command further advised party supporters to desist from disrupting the activities of perceived political opponents,’’ the statement added.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
It warned that the police would deal decisively with any person or group of persons who engage in unscrupulous acts. (NAN)
