Abeokuta, – The Ogun police command has warned that anyone caught fomenting trouble in any part of the state, under any guise, would be dealt with decisively
SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said this in a statement issued in Abeokuta, on Tuesday, in view of the forthcoming general election.
Oyeyemi said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole, had also warned parents and guardians to advise their children and wards not to be wiling tools for violence.
According to him, the CP also appealed to members of various political parties to eschew violence and go about their campaigns in a peaceful manner.
The CP expressed his satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of parties so far and enjoined them to sustain the tempo.
“The command also wishes to appeal to candidates of all the parties to advise their supporters on the need for them to play the game according to the rule, and make their campaign issue- based rather than attacking one another.
“Also, the command wishes to assure the general public of their safety as robust security arrangement has been put in place to forestall any form of breakdown of law and order,” he said. (NAN)
