Jos – The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau Council has cautioned stakeholders in the electoral process against doing things that would puncture the prevailing peace in the state.
The council, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Paul Jatau and Secretary, Peter Amine, advised the stakeholders against doing things that would plunge Plateau into crises.
“The NUJ wishes to advise key players to exercise caution and avoid situations that could plunge the state into crises.
“Election is not a do or die affair and the wishes of the masses through their votes must be respected.
“We, therefore, enjoin citizens to avoid situations that could cause a setback to the hard earned peace,’’ the statement said.
The union in Plateau congratulated Nigerians, particularly residents of the Plateau, for exercising their franchise in the just-concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The council appreciated citizens for the massive turnout for the elections, saying that it was indicative of Nigerians’ growing interest in the democratic processes of electing its leaders.
