Cairo – Eleven people had been reportedly killed and ten others wounded on Monday in a collision between two cars in Southern Egypt, a security source said.
Witnesses said the collision between a pick-up and a small bus in Minya province was due to speeding. However, ambulances rushed to the scene and transported the wounded to the hospital.
Fatal road crashes are relatively common in Egypt and are often blamed on reckless driving as well as poor road conditions.
According to official figures, around 8,480 traffic accidents took place in 2018, killing 3,087 people.
