Emergence of first female party chair excites Adamawa women

YOLA – Women in Adamawa irrespective of affiliation have welcomed, with joy, the emergence of Mrs Binta Masi as the Adamawa of (APC).

Masi became the first female at the Wednesday rescheduled congress of the APC in Yola.

Her male opponents withdrew the race paving way for her confirmation in a unanimous voice vote by delegates.

“We feel great. Binta is capable, she has the experience being a three time member.

“She is someone who has held national positions in various parties before the formation of APC.

“With Binta, can the sky is stepping stone not limit”, Hajiya Fati Mohammed, a National Ex-Officio member of APC said.

Mohammed solicited for full support for the newly elected for positive result.

Ms Ladi Joseph, a ’s Democratic member said the emergence of Masi was good news and that it would ginger more women to aspire for higher offices.

Mrs Hajara Ibrahim and Mrs Blessing Vandi of ’s Democratic also expressed happiness with the development and Masi to prove a point by making a difference.

Commenting over her emergence, Masi said she felt humbled and honoured for the support and solidarity shown to her.

Masi promised to transform the party by pursuing reconciliation with aggrieved members and initiating programmes that would attract more members to the party.

“We already have the grassroots support and will work on that advantage to ensure the party victory at all levels in 2015″, Masi said. (NAN)
