Daura – The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Farouk Umar has commenced a tour of his domain to sensitize parents on the need to enroll their wards in schools.

Spokesman for the Emir, Malam Usman Yaro, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Daura that the tour was part of the Emir’s annual event aimed at improving pupils’ enrollment in schools, especially the girl-child.
Yara said that the Emir, who had earlier visited Maiadua and Sandamu local councils, would visit Zango, Baure and Daura local government areas this week.
He added that the Emir had during the tour demanded for schools’ attendance register to ascertain enrollment per school and the number of absentee pupils.
He said the Emir, accompanied by district heads, also summoned parents of absentee pupils and students to find out why they were not in school and counseled them on the need to be educated.
He added that the royal father also gave prizes to the best performing headmaster and principal on students’ enrollment, hygiene and extraordinary academic records.
NAN recalls that the Emir had recently procured hundreds of WAEC, NECO and NABTEB examinations forms, which were distributed free to qualified indigent students.
