BAUCHI – The Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rulwanu Adamu, has called on the residents to participate in de-silting of culverts and drains in the state capital, to avert flood during the rainy season.
Adamu made the call on Thursday in Bauchi during the official ceremony of the exercise.
He said that the exercise would prevent the spread of diseases and warned against using instruments that could injure participants.
Adamu, represented by the District Head of Burinji, Alhaji Yakubu Umar, commended Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) for conducting the exercise in all the 20 local government areas of the state.
He called on traditional and religious leaders to enlighten their subjects on the significance of the monthly environmental sanitation.
The Permanent Secretary of BASEPA, Alhaji Waziri Jalam, assured the residents of quick evacuation of the garbage.
Jalam commended the residents of Mallam-Goje, Yelwa, Kofar Mai and Bakin-Kowa quarters for participating in all activities initiated by the agency and urged others to emulate same. (NAN)
