Abuja – Okey Emordi has resigned his position as the Technical Adviser of Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia, with his assistant Abdullahi Biffo taking over immediately, the club said on Monday.
Igwe Onuoha, the club’s Media Officer, disclosed in a press statement that the coach announced the development in a letter to the club’s chairman, Emeka Inyama.
“Emordi said he had to quit following a string of poor results and
wished the club well,’’ he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the coach was on Sunday in Umuahia assaulted by a section of the club’s fans after their 0-1 loss to El-Kanemi Warriors.
The loss was in a Match Day 9 fixture of the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professinal Football League (NPFL).
Onuoha said Emordi’s assistant when he was in charge, Abdullahi Biffo, would now take over with immediate effect.
He said Biffo’s first assignment would be the away Match Day 10 fixture against Akwa United FC of Uyo on Sunday.
NAN reports that Abia Warriors are currently placed eighth in the league with 11 points from nine matches, after three wins, two draws and four losses.
