Lagos – Micheal Udoh, 33, who allegedly stole his employers video-producing equipment valued at N9.5million, was on Thursday arraigned in a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Udoh, whose address is unknown, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and unlawful escape from custody.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Gabriel Ekundayo, told the court that the accused committed the offence at No. 10, Adeniyi Jakande Close, Adeniran Ogunsanya St., Surulere, Lagos.
He said that the accused, who worked as a production assistant at Pictures Ltd, owned by Tade Ogidan, stole the equipment from the organisation and ran away in 2013.
Ekundayo said that when the accused was eventually caught, he attempted to escape from custody.
He said that the offence contravened Sections 106 and 285(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.I. Dan-Oni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N1million, with two sureties in like sum.

She ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed, one of them must be a property owner in Lagos and should provide evidence of tax payment.
Dan-Oni adjourned the case to Dec. 16, for mention. (NAN)
