Comedian and skit maker, Adebowale Adedeyo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, joined a group of young Nigerians at Lekki toll gate in Lagos on Friday for the third anniversary of the #EndSARS protests and memorial for protesters allegedly killed by security operatives on October 20, 2020.
Adebayo and the other protesters stormed the Lekki toll gate despite a strong police presence in the area, with the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, and other senior police officers also present.
Recall that the Lagos State Police Command had warned against any form of assembly or gathering at the Lekki Tollgate in the state in celebration of the #EndSARS memorial.
Mr. Macaroni had earlier announced that there will be ‘a peaceful walk’ as a tribute to those who were reportedly killed by security personnel on the night of October 20 when protesters were dispersed from the toll gate after many days of protest.
He also said the protest will be for others who have been killed as a result of police brutality across the country.
He said; “Three years now! We will never forget! #EndSars! We will walk peacefully to honor all those who lost their lives on 20/10/2020! We also walk for all those who have lost their lives due to police brutality in Nigeria! We walk in peace! We will never forget!”
