ENUGU (Sundiata Post) – Enugu is currently a beehive of activities as the state governor, Peter Mbah hosts PDP Governors’ Forum on Wednesday.
Sundiata Post reports that as at Tuesday evening, dignitaries had arrived Enugu for the meeting. First to arrive the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Enugu, was Governor Godwin Obaseki accompanied by some Edo State Government officials.
Next to arrive were Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Senator Bala Mohamed of Bauchi State and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, both of whom came on the same flight.
Enugu State Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, accompanied by commissioners and other government officials, received the visitors.
Also on hand to receive them was the Director-General of the PDP Governors Forum, a former deputy national secretary of the party, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo and some members of the PDP GF.
Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal joined them at the Enugu State Government House where they were received by the State Governor, Peter Mbah before they left for their various accommodation in the state capital that has been adorned, at various strategic locations, with banners welcoming the visitors to the state.
Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State and Sim Fubara of Rivers State are in attendance.
In what provides a hint to the extraordinary nature of the Enugu meeting, on Bala Mohammed’s flight were other party stalwarts: PDP BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara; Senate Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro; PDP deputy national chairman, South West, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja and PDP National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Umaru Bature.
Others were former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Aliyu Babangida; former Minister of Special Duties,Tanimu Turaki; Kaduna State PDP Chairman and Chairman of the Conference of PDP Chairmen, Hassan Hyat, and Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Akuyam.
Sundiata Post findings indicate that while the meeting is expected to undertake the usual peer review and consideration of the state of the nation, there are hints that the crisis in Rivers State and the unresolved issue of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party could also take centre stage.
Inside sources say that Governor Bala Mohammed is spearheading a massive effort at rebuilding the party as a springboard for regaining the confidence of members across the country in order to improve the electoral fortunes of the party and to play a more effective role as the nation’s foremost opposition party.
