Enugu assembly confirms commisioner nominee

Enugu  –  The Enugu State House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed the appointment of Mr Ikechukwu Ezeoha as a commissioner nominee.

This followed a motion by the Leader of the assembly, Mr Ikechukwu Ezugwu (PDP-Udenu), after reading a letter from Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for the lawmakers to screen and approve his nomination as a commissioner.

During questioning, the commissioner nominee said that if given opportunity to serve, he would put in his wealth of experience as a practicing engineer based in U.S. for the development of the state.

“l spent most of my years in the U.S, though l worked at Hotel Presidential, Enugu. I am a grassroots person who can speak his language very well.

“I promise to put in my best to ensure that things are done in a right manner if the opportunity will be given to me,’’ Ezeoha said.

In his contribution, Mr Mathew Ugwueze (PDP-Igboeze South) explained that the nominee’s background and work experience according to his profile would not be taken for granted.

Ugwueze pleaded with his colleagues to approve the nomination so that he would bring in new ideas for the development of the state.

In a related development, Ezugwu presented two bills, the Enugu State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency bill and the Administration of Criminal Justice bill.

The assembly adjourned its plenary session till April 19 because of the economic summit in the state from April 12 to April 14. (NAN)
