•Brutalised Osy Ikediashi in the hospital bed
By Fred Iwenjora
ENUGU – The stark reality that glares at you is that of a traumatised Osy Ikediashi, CEO of Gabriana Entertainment, owners of Enugu-based Gabriana Band and Unique Restaurant.
Ikediashi, a multi-instrumentalist and music producer is the latest victim of bad Nigeria Police brutality; bad in the sense that there are many good members of the NPF who are indeed friendly to the public.
Some of the bad eggs that give Nigeria police a bad name stormed Unique Restaurant situated on the Trans Ekulu end of the Enugu/Onitsha expressway purportedly to effect a court order allegedly given on the land where Unique Restaurant is situated.
Questions from Osy on that Friday morning of October 04, 2019 on the reason for the vandalisation of the business premises by the uniformed men who carried away freezers, cars and other valuable items resulted in one of them, identified as Mike Ukwuani, releasing some brutal blows and kicks which left Osy critically battling for his dear life at the National Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu with his young family gnashing teeth in agony as you read this.
The question now is: is it right for a police man who may be going about his so-called lawful duties to take laws into his hand as to meet out this kind of brutality on an innocent law abiding Nigerian? Just for asking a question?
Was it not just better to drop the court order if any for the residents of the property to act on their own and vacate the premises as the case may be?
Reports say the Nigeria Police hierarchy in Enugu are already investigating the matter in line with the IGPs zero tolerance to police brutality.
Let’s wish Osy speedy recovery at this trying time of his macabre encounter with the Nigerian police. (News Express)
