ABA (Sundiata Post) – Abia The President-General, Enyimba International Supporters Club, Stephen Ukwuenieke, says the club is still in contention in winning the ongoing 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Ukwuenieke disclosed this to the in Aba on Saturday.
According to him, the league is still open for any team to grab.
He said the league was tough to an extent that the best clubs in the country still drew and lost games at home.
Ukwuenieke recalled that the league’s reigning champions, Rangers International FC of Enugu had lost three matches at home in the ongoing season.
“Though, Rangers is getting results in away matches but nobody can predict the area the league is going and I believe that Enyimba still has a chance.
“Enyimba is one of the best clubs in the world, Africa and the country and clubs always lay siege to grab points from the club.
“Enyimba is a team in progress. We are still Enyimba and we are moving ahead looking forth for better results and things before the end of the season,” Ukwuenieke said.
He expressed happiness over the progress of the club’s young players who were blending well with the main team.
The president-general attributed the club’s difficulty in the season to change of coaches whereby the players needed to switch from the former coach’s tactics to the new one’s philosophy.
According to him, Enyimba made two changes on the technical crew when Yemi Olarenwaju left us and Coach Stanley took over.
“Eguma is still understudying the team and the players are still learning his tactics, philosophy and techniques. At the moment, the team is still balancing.
“Winning, losing and draw are part of football and we are just starting the second stanza of the league.
“Actually, Enyimba defeated Lobi Stars 1-0 in the last match but we cannot say for sure if the team is ripe to win more matches away from home,’’ he said.
Ukwuenieke said no club could claim victory of the league trophy, saying that Enyimba had started wining away from home lately and still in the title race.
