The PMS is a transformative initiative to enhance efficiency, accountability, and professionalism across civil service.
Tuggar disclosed this during the inauguration and sensitisation ceremony of the PMS in the ministry in Abuja.
According to him, the PMS represents a bold step toward aligning the ministry’s institutional goals with national priorities, promoting excellence, and ensuring fairness in staff performance evaluation.
Tuggar said, “This is by introducing regular periodic performance appraisals and dialogues, implementing effective incentive consequential management systems and performance improvement plans.
“Such as incorporating employer development objectives and management components, like career objectives, interest, and motivation in performance plans.
“This is also critical to strengthening our ministry’s role, as a role model of progressive diplomacy and advancing Nigeria’s global standing.”
He further urged the staff of the ministry to fully embrace the initiative, saying such would enhance the culture of innovation in the place, which he described as a beacon of excellence in public service.
For his part, the Permanent-Secretary of the Ministry, Amb. Dunoma Ahmed commended the initiative for being apt to boost productivity in civil service.
“PMS is the cornerstone of a deliberate effort by the Federal Government to ensure civil/public service operate at the highest standards of efficiency and effectiveness.
“This system is a medium by which we can accurately assess, guide, and enhance the performance of our workforce, as well as align individual contributions with our overall national goals,” Ahmed said. (NAN)
