An Estate Agent, Mudashiru Jimoh, 48, on Thursday appeared in an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly fraudulently collecting money from one Oguntona Olakunmi as rented for an apartment.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp Solomon Oladele, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 29, at CMS Junction area of Osogbo.
Oladele said the accused collected N50,000 from Olakunmi under the pretext that he make the apartment available to him which he failed to do so, and also failed to return the money.
He said the offence was contrary to and punishable under section 419 of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and his counsel, Mr Okobe Nagite, applied for his bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adebayo Lasisi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Lasisi added that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means, submit evidence of tax payment and two passport photographs to the court.
He adjourned the case to Feb. 6, 2014.
