BRUSSELS – An extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the European parliament will be held in Brussels to review the outcome of the presidential poll in Egypt, official sources said on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the head of the European observation mission for the Egyptian poll, Mario David, would present a final report on the election, won by the ex-Defence Minister, Abdelvettah Al Sissi.
Report says the deployment of the EU poll observers had been interrupted for three weeks before being resumed after the EU and the Egyptian security services resolved a dispute over the control of the European communication equipment.
Less that 50 per cent of the Egyptians voted during the poll, a situation that might jeopardise the credibility of the election and the legitimacy of the elected president. (PANA/NAN)
