LAGOS (Sundiata Post) – Afrobeats star Davido has set social media abuzz after claiming that Lagos offers the best nightlife experience in the world.

During a recent episode of the Culture Knock Out podcast, the Grammy-nominated artist praised the city’s vibrant entertainment scene, stating that Lagos has everything one could ask for in terms of nightlife and leisure.

“There [are] so many interesting things to do in Lagos. We have amazing nightlife. I feel like we have the best nightlife in the world, we have good restaurants. Everything is there in Lagos,” he said.

His statement quickly drew a flurry of reactions online, with opinions split between support and criticism.

While some users appreciated his efforts to put Lagos in a positive light, others were more skeptical. @ThePhysicsOfgod suggested the comment was an attempt to recover from past backlash: “This must be damage control after being bashed for demarketing Nigeria in his other interview. Lagos has the best nightlife in the world ke.”

@Onuohajude8 raised safety concerns, writing, “If u are not careful after the night life u lose ur phone or ur life.”

However, others admired his consistency in promoting the city. “Sentiments aside, Davido impresses me with the way he promotes Lagos on any chance he has in interviews,” said @Chief_Big360.

On a different note, @Here4buz questioned the motive behind the singer’s frequent interviews, especially considering the lukewarm reception of his most recent album. “But wait o, what is really the objective of these interviews; I am asking out of genuine curiosity because his last album performed very poorly on the global charts after countless interviews,” the user noted.

Despite the mixed feedback, Davido’s remarks have once again drawn global attention to the city he proudly represents.
