Malumfashi – Justice Mamman Nasir, former President, Court of Appeal, has enjoined Nigerians to always support the developmental initiatives of the Federal Government.
Nasir gave the advice on Sunday, at Malumfashi in Katsina State, during the annual Quránic Recitation graduation of the Madinatul Ahbab Watalamis Islamic School.
The retired judge, who is the District Head of Malumfashi, declared that such support was crucial to the success of every effort toward a better Nigeria.
He commended governors of state in the north and the traditional rulers, over recent resolutions toward a peaceful resolution of the crisis in Kaduna State.
Nasir said that the meeting, which he also attended, discussed various issues including security, economic and educational challenges facing the region.
He described education as very crucial to human development, and urged parents and teachers to assist relevant government agencies towards improving its quality.
An Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Dayyib Haruna-Rasheed, who also spoke at the occasion, appealed to Nigerians to trust and support the leaders and never hesitate to offer advice where necessary.
Haruna-Rasheed enjoined people to provide adequate moral training for their children, noting that such good upbringing would help the quest for a better society.
The Director of the school, Khalifa Shitu Sulaiman, enjoined members of the public to avoid rumour mongering, and stressed the need for everyone to imbibe the teachings of Almighty Allah and make them part of life.
He said that the school, which was established in 1954, had graduated 13,500 Haafeezs (persons, who have memorised the entire Holy Qur’an).
Sulaiman disclosed that the school had 375 branches located in various communities in Nigeria and parts of Niger Republic.
According to the director, the institution breeds its own teachers among graduating students and liaises with local and state government education authorities to ensure smooth running of its academic programmes.
“Islam preaches peace, tolerance and good understanding; that is part of what the school inculcates in the students,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 121 persons graduated on mastering the art of recitation of the Qur’an.
