A former North Central Coordinator for the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign, Anngu Orngu, has officially announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
SundiataPost reports that Orngu has now declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praising the president’s reform programs as both bold and transformative.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, May 15, Orngu emphasized that President Tinubu’s ongoing economic and structural reforms are laying a solid foundation for Nigeria’s future, which will benefit generations to come.
“President Tinubu is not paying lip service to the reformation of Nigeria. He is doing the hard and painful work of fixing a broken system,” Orngu told Daily Post.
He pointed to the removal of fuel subsidy as one of the Tinubu administration’s most daring steps, noting it was crucial in dismantling a system that kept Nigeria poor while a select few benefitted.
“Subsidy removal was not a popular decision, but it was the right one. It takes courage to confront decades-old structures of waste and abuse,” he added.
Orngu, who also previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the Benue State Governor on Student Affairs, claimed that no governor in the country is currently borrowing money to pay salaries. He said this indicates growing stability in the nation’s finances under Tinubu’s leadership.
He criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, urging him to stop acting like a political agitator. Instead, Orngu encouraged him to support President Tinubu’s efforts to rebuild Nigeria.
He said: “This is a time for national rebuilding, not petty politics. Those who truly care about Nigeria should rally behind Tinubu’s vision.
“I call on all Nigerian youths to stand solidly behind President Tinubu to succeed. Let us give him the overwhelming mandate he deserves in 2027 to continue the great work he has started.
“The future belongs to us, and we must support the leader who is laying the groundwork for it.”
