Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The former youth president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Engr. Daniel Kadzai, has congratulated the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio for being elected into the Executive Committee of the global parliamentary body.
The achievement is indeed worthy of celebration as it took Nigeria 59 years to be elected into the committee again, Kadzai said. https://sundiatapost.com/10th-nass-retreat-senators-aides-journalists-stranded-at-retreat-in-akpabios-hometown/
The last time a Nigerian was elected into the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union was in 1964, our correspondent reports.
Recall that history was made on Friday in far away oil-rich Angola, when the President of the Nigerian Senate and Leader of Nigeria’s delegation to the 147th Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly in Luanda, Angola, Senator Godswill Akpabio, broke a 59-year-old jinx, by being elected into the Executive Committee of the global parliamentary body. https://sundiatapost.com/senator-elisha-aboh-recants-says-akpabio-has-no-hand-in-his-sack-by-appeal-court/
Congratulating him however, the former CAN scribe said Akpabio has demonstrated global strength as he was overwhelmingly voted for by delegates across the world to become an executive committee member.
The IPU is the global organization of national parliaments founded in 1889 that is dedicated to promoting peace through parliamentary diplomacy and dialogue.
The organization has over 179 countries as members, our correspondent affirmed.
Kadzai consequently charged Akpabio to utilize the opportunity to preach global peace especially in the countries where land disputes are causing unrest.
Kadzai sighted the war between Israel and Hamas, appealing to the Senate President to use his office to proffer solution to the ongoing war.
