Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The former youth president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Engr. Daniel Kadzai has condemned the shocking killing of several Kaduna villagers by the Nigerian Army.
Recall that a Nigerian Army war drone had erroneously bombed an area in an airstrike where some worshippers gathered to observe an event. https://sundiatapost.com/military-airstrikes-eliminate-terrorist-leaders-scores-of-fighters-in-kaduna/
Some residents in Kaduna who spoke with reporters had alleged that 80 of their kinsmen were killed in the raid and 50 others severely injured when the Army mistakenly dropped a bomb on a group of religious adherents during a Maulud celebration at Tudun Biri, a community within Igabi local government area of Kaduna State on Sunday night.
It was also observed that the majority of the injured were children and women.
However, Kadzai who spoke on behalf of a Christian group, the Congress of Northern Nigeria Christians (CNNC), said the group has prayed for the repose of all those who were killed and has wished a quick recovery to all those who sustained various degrees of injuries.
The former CAN president who is now the youth leader of CNNC said there is no gain saying that the top military hierarchy is culpable as such an incident, though regrettable, could happen without the knowledge of the Army Chiefs.
The Christian scribe said it is public knowledge that this is not the first time such a tragic incident is happening in the country with many deaths recorded but called on the military relevant authorities to ensure that the country does not witness the unfortunate mishap again.
He however lauded President Tinubu for his timely response but also called on him to double his efforts in ensuring that the military is well guided. https://sundiatapost.com/military-eliminates-57-terrorists-top-commanders-in-2-weeks/
“The Nigerian military should take drastic measures to unravel this matter as well as mobilize adequate compensations for the families of the victims”, he said.
Kadzai continued by saying that the wrong target was most unfortunate, as he encouraged the Muslim community (Ummah) and the people of Tudun Biri to accept the ill-fated incident not as a deliberate act but as an error that the Nigerian Army had acknowledged and shown regret.
“CNNC will continue to pray for the government at all levels and the security personnel that God Almighty will give them the wisdom and understanding to end insecurity and support the maintenance of peaceful coexistence so that citizens will go about their legitimate businesses.
“We call on the security agencies not to relent in the fight against insurgency and pray that society will soon be free from criminal elements in the country.
“As Christian group we send our heart-warm condolences to the families who lost loved ones, the Tudun Biri community, and the good people of Igabi Local Government, the Emir of Zazzau, and the government of the State,” Kadzai said in a statement sent to our correspondent.
