AFAO-EKITI – Dr Sikiru Lawal, a former deputy governor of Ekiti State, has said that he would not join his principal, Chief Segun Oni, and defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Lawal made the declaration on Thursday in Afao-Ekiti when he led scores of other erstwhile loyalists of the former governor to the home of the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Mr Ayo Fayose.
He told Fayose that he and his loyalists would rather pitch their tent with him, saying that Fayose represented the conscience of PDP in the state, and has all it takes to win the forthcoming election.
They described the APC as a failed party that must be checkmated by a PDP-led government.
Responding, Fayose commended them for openly identifying with him, and pledged to ensure that PDP won the election.
He promised his visitors that they would be adequately compensated if the party won the poll. (NAN)
