Lagos- Ex-international, Edema Fuludu, said on Wednesday the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify and defend their title at 2015 African Nations Cup at Equitorial Guinnea would adversely affect Nigeria’s league.
Fuludu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that sourcing for fund for the league was now imperative if the vibrancy of the league should be sustained .
“Our not going actually will also reduce the chances of scouts coming to look into Nigeria.
“So, it’s going to affect the domestic league in a way that it is the players who stands to benefit.
“From being look into by those who want to take them out to ply their trade.
“Economically, it’s not good for us, is not good for the local league.
“It is when our national team excel at a place like the Nations Cup that the domestic league will have quality sponsorship they will now use it as a bargaining stake.
“They can tell them that ‘look Nigeria is in the map of world football, so they will not get good sponsorship.
“ But it depends on how the current NFA does it because they want to rejuvenate our domestic league’’.
