Ex-warehouse staff docked for allegedly stealing equipment worth N1.7m

Lagos – The Police on Friday arraigned a former staff of a consulting firm, Samuel Uloemezie in a Surulere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing his employer’s equipment and materials worth N1.7 million.
Uloemezie, 29, whose address is unknown, is facing a three- count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Oluwagbenga Salami told the court that the accused committed the offence at No. 12/14 Babs Animashaun Road Surulere, Lagos, between May 2015 and Dec. 25, 2015.
He alleged that the accused, with others now at large, unlawfully broke into his former employer’s warehouse and took away printing materials and other items valued at N1.73 million
Salami said that the complainant, Moneke Nnwemeka, said he received a phone call from his company that the accused came to the warehouse with ‎a tricycle to pick something.
The complaint who is also a staff of the company rushed to the warehouse and discovered that the above mentioned equipment and materials where no longer there.
The complaint alleged that the accused must have duplicated the key to the warehouse before he left the company.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 409, 307(1) and 285(7) of the Criminal Laws Of Lagos State 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs N.O. Ojuromi granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Jan. 25 for hearing.(NAN)
