ABUJA – Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC),has emphasised the need for regular physical exercise in order to perform effectively in any given task.
He stated this on Saturday after the Jogging and Walking exercise organised by the commission in collaboration with Nicon Insurance Limited, which took place at the National Stadium, Abuja.
Oyeyemi, who was represented by Mr Yemi Omidiji, Deputy Corps Marshal, Training, said joint exercise would help participants to work effectively in their places of duty.
“Jogging and walking together help people to be fit and work effectively in their places of work and by extension help the growth of the organisation, he said.
Mr Dauda Bashorun , Deputy Director, Special Duties, Ministry of Transport who represented the Minister, Mr Idris Umar, said “physical fitness is very essential for the execution of government policy.
“There is need to be mentally and physically alert, exercise like this make it easy to achieve fitness,” he said. [eap_ad_1] He expressed his appreciation to the FRSC for organising the event, saying it would benefit Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the country.
Also speaking, Mr Bisi Kazeem, Head of Sports in FRSC, said this was significant because it was the first one under the leadership of Oyeyemi.
“Our theme; Transportation for Safer Driving in Nigeria’’ is strategic because we are using the exercise to urge the people to always drive safely in order to avoid accidents during transportation.
“We are in the ‘ember’ months, so we are using this medium to sensitise the people on the need to drive carefully now and always,’’he said. (NAN)
