Lagos– Some Nigeria’s ex-internationals on Saturday pour encomiums on the Nigeria U-23 Dream Team V’s 2-0 victory over Gabon U-23 National team in Abuja, stressing the team has the potentials to be great.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that goals from Segun Oduduwa and Junior Ajayi helped the Dream Team to the next round of the qualifiers where they will face Zambia U-23 tam.
The first leg, which was played a fortnight ago, had ended 4-1 in favour of Nigeria.
Led by Coach Samson Siasia, the boys will face Zambia in the final qualifying round to qualify for the 11th All Africa Games schedule to hold in Sept. 4 to Sept. 19 in Brazzaville, Congo.
Ex international Henry Nwosu described the result as a good one, urging the team to do likewise against their next opponent, Zambia.
”It is a good result, they showed their capabilities. They need to continue in this manner as they face Zambia which could be a tougher hurdle,” he said.
Ifeanyi Udeze, who played for Dream Team 2 in the 2000 Olympics, said the result was expected and warned the players against complacency.
”They have to keep turning out good results like this one. They should keep working hard and striving at great results until they book their place in the competition,” Udeze said.
