Osogbo – A security expert, Alhaji Ridwan Hussein, on Sunday, called for caution over statements on sensitive security issues.
Hussein, who was reacting to a recent statement about impeding invasion of the South-West by Boko Haram insurgents, said that such statement was capable of creating unnecessary tension in the zone.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo, Osun, that statements about security issues must be intelligent and should follow ‘’tactical security procedure” to avert tension and confusion in socio-economic activities.
Hussein, who is the head of Harmonised Vigilante Group in Osun, called for stringent and regulated channels for disseminating security information.
“I make bold to say that security is too important of an issue to be handled by every ‘dick and tom’; it is indeed a very sensitive issue.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560”]
“The security situation in our country today requires meticulous approach that is not porous in content and context.
“That is why the statement about impeding Boko Haram attack in the South-West by a security agency was very unfortunate; it was a mockery of Nigeria’s security architecture,’’ he said.
“I want the Inspector-General of Police to issue a categorical statement about pattern of disseminating security information in the country.
“As an appendage of police in our state, we are working round-the-clock in collaboration with Nigerian police to make our state free of any crime whatsoever,” Hussein added. (NAN)
