Warri – Mr Sherrif Mulade, National Coordinator, Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), on Thursday condemned the spate of pipeline bombing in Niger Delta.
Mulade made the condemnation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Warri.
He said the action of the militants would have negative impact on the environment.
The national coordinator, who was reacting to the early Thursday pipeline blasting in Abiteye, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta, appealed to the militants to give peace a chance.
The environmentalist, who is from Gbaramutu Kingdom that hosted some facilities of the oil companies in Warri South-West, also urged the militants to channel their grievances to the appropriate quarters.
”We condemn the incessant bombing of pipelines in our communities, it is destroying our environment.
”You cannot continue to destroy our environment for the demands of the Niger Delta and at the end of the day our people are being harassed by the military.’’
Mulade urged the Federal Government to monitor the activities of the Joint Task Force (JTF) detailed to provide security across the creeks of the Niger Delta. (NAN)
