Ahmed told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that farmers were already seizing the opportunity of the new rain patterns to plant crops.
The executive secretary said that the weather was changing and getting ready for another season, suggesting that the rainy season could start earlier than usual.
“We are waiting for the meteorological services to give out their predictions for the year, as the weather is now changing, as it is getting hot, especially here in the North.
“The clouds are beginning to gather momentum; there had been some rains in Kaduna and some part of the country.
“The season may start earlier than last year; it is too early though to predict anything now, because the season has not yet started,’’ he said.
NAN reports that some parts of Lagos State experienced averagely heavy downpour in the early hours of Tuesday.
NAN also reports that the 2016 rainy season farming would begin in April. (NAN)
